How many times have you woken up on your birthday and dreaded the same old presents: after shave, perfume, body lotion, scarf, gloves?
How would you feel if you received something really different, say, like a piece of ancient woodland. Not just any old ancient woodland mind you. This one is near Canterbury, Kent - an area that is already steeped in history. Called Fryarne Park Wood, this woodland is SSSI so is special in it’s own right.
The UK lags way behind the rest of Europe in terms of tree cover and our most precious wildlife habitats – ancient woodland – covers just 2% of the country. Creating new, and preserving ancient woodland habitats is vital for the survival of our most precious species to enable them to better adapt to the effects of climate change. Climate change is not only a topical issue but one we expect to be of enduring concern for land owners for decades to come.
